Hey there, do you love the warming weather? Are you feeling a bit like a hamster on a wheel with your usual cardio exercise routine, but you keep doing it because you know it's good for you?

Are you just plain bored of the same old treadmill or walk around the block but hesitant or reluctant to try hiking? Here are some tips that helped me refresh my cardio routine by taking it outside and it also elevated my enjoyment of walking/hiking for health.

First off, let me assure you that I'm not affiliated with any stores or equipment brands. I'm just here to share my experiences and what helps me out.

  1. All Trails App: This little gem is a game-changer. With the All Trails app, you can easily find trails tailored to your preferences. Filter by difficulty, length, and even amenities, whether it's dog-friendly or paved. Reading reviews from fellow hikers gives you the real scoop on what to expect. Downloading the trail before you go is a great way to stay on the trail by watching your GPS coordinates align. Plus, with a paid subscription, you can set up a "lifeline" to let a friend know when you start and finish your hike for added safety.

2. Shoes: Good footwear is essential. Start with what you have, but as you tackle more challenging trails, invest in hiking boots with proper support and tread. Read lots of reviews, visit a sporting goods store for expert advice, and try on your top choices to find the perfect fit for your adventures.

Hiking Poles

3. Poles: Don't underestimate the power of hiking poles. They're like having an extra set of legs, especially on uneven terrain. Plus, they help maintain balance and can increase your pace without feeling awkward. Get advice from fellow hikers or store experts on selecting the perfect poles for your needs.

4. Water Pack: Staying hydrated is critical, so invest in a water pack with a built-in bladder makes your water convenient. It's not only handy but also has pockets for your essentials. For longer hikes, consider upgrading to a larger backpack-style water pack for extra gear and hydration.

5. My Adventure Challenge: Whether you're a beginner, seasoned, or somewhere in the middle of your hiking experiences, consider "My Adventure Challenge." It helps set a goal, is motivating, and helps keep your boots on your feet and on the trails. It's inspiring, too, and I find I build my hiking confidence with each mile and challenge.

So why hike? Because hiking isn't just about putting one foot in front of the other—it's about creating memories that last a lifetime. It's about embarking on amazing adventures, making new friends, exploring new trails, and discovering hidden gems in nature. It's a chance to escape the mundane and immerse yourself in the beauty and benefits of the great outdoors.

With each step, you're not only strengthening your body but also rejuvenating your mind and spirit. And as you conquer new trails and overcome challenges, you'll find yourself increasing strength and endurance, both physically and mentally.

So, if you're ready to break free from the ordinary, find your trail, lace up your boots, grab your pack and poles, and hit the trails. There's a world of adventure waiting for you. So go ahead, grab a friend, make memories, embark on incredible adventures, and take control of your health—one step at a time. Happy hiking!
